We provide easy access to high quality dermatologic care in an environment that is consistently friendly, convenient, courteous, and caring.SummaryThe Mohs Medical/Surgical Assistant is to provide assistance to medical doctors in both surgical and medical settings. Provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate individualized care to all patients. Responsible for the following:Job Responsibilities:Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam, surgery and treatmentReview medical history an confirm purpose of visitEscort patient to exam or surgical roomReview and obtain surgical informed consent with the patient prior to their procedureTake appropriate photographsObtain and record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital signs and test results in an Electronic Health Record (EHR)Prepare and set up sterile surgical trayPrepare patient for Mohs surgery, including prepping the area, properly numb by local anesthetics as directed by the physician, and preparing instruments for surgeryCollect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testingProvide patient care and help assist physician during surgical procedure as directedEducate and provide post wound care instructions to patientUnder physician direction, authorize drug refills, enter prescription information into the EHR, and provide prescription information to pharmaciesScribe surgical and office visitsSterilize surgical instruments and operate autoclavePrepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms organized and cleanDisposes of infection waste and biohazard materialsProvide adequate safety precautionsSchedule appointments and coordinate any additional careChange wound dressingAccept triage phone calls from patients and documentPerform suture removalsNotify patient of all resultsLearn to cut and prepare frozen tissue by the Mohs micrographic surgeryInventory and assess the need for instruments, sutures, medical supplies and equipmentPerform accurate documentation of all proceduresRespond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocolsPerforms medical assistant duties as required for non-Mohs patients, as part of the dermatology practiceThis job description reflects essential functions; it does not propose or restrict the tasks that may be assigned to the employeeAdhere to all policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilitiesUphold a culture of high-quality medical care, supportive work environment, and excellent patient experienceLate evenings may be required for patient carePerform other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization and departmentMinimum Qualifications:Valid IN LPN licenseKnowledge, Skills and Abilities RequirementsKnowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medicationsDetail oriented, professional attitude, reliableManagement and organizational skills to support the leadership of this functionAbility to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skillsInterpersonal skillsAbility to carry teammate needs and a supportive work cultureAnalytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solvingBasic to intermediate understanding of EHR programs and computer operating systemsUnderstanding of HIPAA guidelinesEqual Opportunity Employer: Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, National Origin, Age, Genetic Information, Disability, Protected Veteran Status, or any other legally protected group statusINDAD22by Jobble
