The Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer located at our
Headquarters in Michigan City, IN reports to Manufacturing
Engineering Manager and is responsible for development and support
of manufacturing systems, with a focus on software architecture
development. The responsibilities include test & calibration
systems, quality control, product development and production
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Systems architect for test & calibration systems across multiple
product lines and production facilities.
Internal and external subject matter expert on test & calibration
systems, data automation, and equipment integrations.
Identify improvements which can be made with respect to production
quality and cost of electronic products as related to product
firmware and test/calibration software.
Establish best practices and mentor manufacturing software
engineers on best practices on test & calibration and overall
Lead the design and development of new product assembly systems and
test & calibration.
Analyze, recommend, and implement changes in test/calibration
software and hardware to optimize manufacturing efficiency and
Participates in conceptualization and preliminary design planning
for new and/or revised product firmware and test/calibration
software to be used with electronic production manufacturing in
conjunction with the embedded firmware teams.
Manage coordination and support of manufacturing and test &
calibration systems with the IT department.
Institute and develop roadmap for reporting techniques and records
necessary for Production and Quality Control information in
conjunction with the Quality departments and plant managers.
Manage manufacturing requirements for product & test equipment with
3rd party engineering and test equipment suppliers.
Prepare documentation (e.g. software specifications, test software
specifications, manufacturing production, quality control, and
test/calibration procedures.) necessary to support related
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
Develop 1,3,5 year Manufacturing systems roadmap
Develop 1,3,5 year Test & Calibration systems roadmap.
Develop standardized component solution
Implementation of roadmap on all new NPI's & one legacy product
Deliver process control/quality reporting template & automated
reporting capability utilizing Google Big Query.
Implement reporting automation on 50% of currently capable
production lines in 6 months.
Support critical efficiency & quality improvement projects.
Test yield improvements to min 95% on identified production
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
BSEE or BS Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years software engineering experience with electronic
products, including firmware and test software.
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing systems experience.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross
functionally in a team or independently.
Understanding of cost accounting desired.
