Administrative Assistant/Financial Compliance Case Manager

Job Description:

Purpose: Provide administrative support to probation and detention services in identifying at risk children and families, assisting families according to their identified needs, enforcing the laws of the state, protecting the rights of juvenile clients and their families, and in protecting and serving the best interest of the community. DUTIES: Answer incoming office telephone calls Greet and assist all individuals at main office window Receive and log payments from individuals and provide receipts Track payment compliance by clients and/or parents/guardians Complete certified mailings and/or client phone contacts regarding delinquent fees Testify in court regarding client/parent/guardian financial compliance Prepare, maintain and complete any assignedmonthly reports Aid in the maintenance of accurate and complete record keeping Maintain accurate and up to date chronological notes concerning any pertinent contact with clients and/or their parents/guardians. Attend staff meetings and training as required Perform all other related duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, with additional education and/or training in the business field and/or related work experience in an office setting Must be at least 21 years of age Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Word/Excel Ability to type with speed and accuracy. Ability to work with clients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures Strong reading, writing, verbal and mathematical skills Strong time management and organizational skills Crisis intervention skills Understanding/experience in the legal/court setting a plus Ability to occasionally work extended, evening and/or weekend hours and occasionally travel out of town, sometimes overnight Ability to effectively communicate, work alone with minimal supervision, cooperate in a team environment, set and attain goals, make decisions and exercise independent judgment according to established guidelines Must have a valid Indiana Operator's License Conduct oneself in a professional manner, be courteous and respectful to juveniles, parents, agencies and co-workers Shall be a resident of Porter County and/or adhere to residence requirements within six (6) months of employment date Shall submit to and pass a criminal background check, Department of Child Services check and National and State Sex Offender and Violent Person Registry check JUDGEMENT AND RESPONSIBILITY: High degree of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality High degree of trust High degree of self-monitoring High degree of professionalism Must be able to prioritize work for effective and efficient operation of the office BENEFITS: Retirement Plan Health/Dental Insurance Holiday/Vacation Pay Note: This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this job classification.
