ENA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule that allows employees the opportunity to work from the office two days a week and at home three days a week. We are headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois. GENERAL SUMMARY The Senior Accountant is responsible for the monthly financial close, day-to-day accounting, maintaining financial reports, tax compliance, audit preparation, and assistance with forecasts and annual budget preparation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the monthly close process for ENA and ENA Foundation (ENAF) which includes monthly accounting entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Also includes working with budget owners investigating variances/trends and communicating to management the findings. Performs monthly bank reconciliations for ENA and ENAF. Works closely with the clerical staff to resolve any financial transaction discrepancies between AMS and Great Plaines Microsoft Dynamics accounting system. Records bi-weekly payroll, reconciles benefit related accounts and works with Human Resources for resolutions to payroll issues. Performs review and approval of payroll in Accounting Manager’s absence. Participates in the annual audit process which includes maintaining audit schedules either monthly, quarterly or annually and preparation of PBC schedules as required by the audit firm. Participates in the preparation of annual filings with the Internal Revenue Service and state agencies to include 5500 audits, Federal 990, State 990, and Sales Tax Return, reconciling 941 to the accounting system quarterly. Assists in the annual budget and ongoing projection processes. This includes supporting staff with the processes, reviewing draft budgets and projections with budget owners, identifying variances and significant fluctuations, and preparing materials for management. Maintains the general ledger codes across multiple systems ensuring the data integrity of financial information. This includes setting up new accounts in the chart of accounts and updating financial reports, as necessary. Train staff on the chart of accounts for ENA and ENAF and assist in expense coding. Performs a premium workers compensation audit to ensure insurance premiums are accurate, under the direction of the Accounting Manager. Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, or business with an emphasis in accounting Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Excel Accounting Software experience Desired: CPA Project management experience Association experience Great Plaines, Adaptive and Concur knowledge KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure Excellent writing and communications skills. Ability to apply appropriate judgment regarding the appropriate use of grammar and style according to the ENA style guide. Excellent collaborative communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with all levels of staff and vendors Team- and people-oriented, including being conscientious and motivated; ability to work independently as well Detail oriented Proactive problem solver Ability to exercise a high level of discretion and independent judgment Ability to manage projects and prioritize multiple and varied tasks (i.e., multi-task) within established deadlines Ability to independently manage production requirements and operational goals. Flexibility in responding to unexpected demands Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products Ability to interface with staff and external relationships in a professional manner COMPENSATION & BENEFITS This position is an exempt/salaried position. The targeted salary range is $80k-$90k annually. Compensation is determined based on a range of factors, including experience, education, certifications or specialized training, skill level and operational needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business computer equipment. Use of the computer, with repetitive motion, is approximately 80%. WORKING CONDITIONS Majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
