We are currently searching for a a Mechanical Engineer - Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to be based out of our Hobart Indiana facility. Reporting to Director of Product and Business Development, this person will be responsible for working with Atkore development teams to innovative new products using simulation and modeling techniques to optimize product designs. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree within an engineering discipline along with at least 3 to 5 years experience running Finite Element Analysis using Nastran or other comparative analysis program. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus. Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interpret analysis results and convert them to design recommendations.Define applicable loads, load combinations, and failure criteria.Make material recommendations to meet performance and reliability requirements.Minimize certification costs by supplementing physical testing with FEA.Correlate physical lab testing and analysis results.Identify material cost reduction opportunities to value engineer.Participate and lead product design reviews.Maintain FEM files and document results in PLM system.All other duties as assigned. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.3 to 5 years' experience running Finite Element Analysis using Nastran or other comparative analysis program required.Comprehensive knowledge of Solid Mechanics and Strength of Materials.Product Development experience is preferred.Demonstrated success collaborating with manufacturing/product management/engineering.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Experience with Lean Manufacturing or other business system based company is a plus.
