Simulation Engineer

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering
preferred)
- 1+ year of experience running Finite Element Analysis using
Nastran, Ansys LS Dyna, or other comparable software
- Experience with CFD
- 1+ years of experience in product development
- Strong computing and scripting skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of solid mechanics and strength of
materials
- Working experience in an R&D environment with time
pressure, open-ended technical problems
- Design experience with Autodesk Inventor (preferred)
- Advanced design skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated success collaborating with manufacturing, product
management, and engineeringRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with new product and manufacturing teams to simulate
products and processes across Atkore
- Contribute to long-term business growth through technology and
product development
- Work with business units to leverage simulation capabilities,
improve product designs, our understanding of our products and
technologies, reduce process/warranty risks, and assist the order
acquisition phase by demonstrating technical superiority and
generating innovative solutions for our customers
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for new and existing
products by constructing finite element models (FEM)
- Analyze component structural performance
- Evaluate new products
- Own and execute CFD projects from the proposal stage through
analysis, reporting, and presentation
- Communicate results to customers, management, and other
business units
- Correlate physical lab testing and analysis results
- Define applicable loads, load combinations, and failure
criteria
- Interpret analysis results and convert them to design
recommendations
- Prepare and deliver presentations, gathering necessary data and
communicating intermediate and final results
- Offer material suggestions to meet performance and reliability
requirements
- Maintain FEA and CFD files and document results in the PLM
system
- Develop and update computer models to reflect changes in
components or other variables that affect performance
- Conduct tests using computer simulations to predict how
components will perform in real-world conditions
- Communicate complex principles, ideas, and concepts clearly and
concisely
- Create flexible body representations of structural
components
- Minimize certification costs by supplementing physical testing
with simulation
- Identify potential problems with designs and provide solutions
to those problems
- Interact with people from diverse technical and cultural
backgrounds
- Perform other related duties as assigned
