today! Our Camp Butternut Springs resident camp is a place where
energetic and passionate staff come together to provide a safe and
positive learning environment for girls ages 6-17. -As camp's
Adventure Course Director you will be critical to the success of
the summer as part of the leadership team and the first-line
resource for campers and counselors on the Albert C. Hanna
Adventure Course at camp. In this role you will supervise and guide
campers and counselors through progressive teambuilding, low
challenge course activities, and high adventure course activities.
As a staff member, you will:
Collaborate with fellow camp staff to
deliver a program designed to build girls of courage, confidence,
and characterProblem-solve to encourage camper growth and
prioritize safety and wellbeingExercise excellent leadership
through role modelling positive behaviors, responsibility,
initiative, and good sportsmanshipExpress your creativity
developing innovative and fun ways to engage an audience of two to

summer camp while you do it! -Work Commitment:
The Camp Butternut Springs summer
season runs from June 4, 2023 through August 6, 2023, including
staff training. Camp will not be in session July 2-4, 2023; this
time is unpaid.Resident camp staff typically work from 11:00 a.m.
Sunday morning until 10:00 p.m. Friday evening every week.Resident
camp staff who commute typically work 40 hours per week, between
8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. each day. Actual shift times vary and will
be determined in conversation with the Camp Director. -Camp Staff
Benefits:
This is a paid summer camp
position.Pay range: $720-$750 per week for staff who live on-site
OR $15-16 per hour for staff who commute; dependent on
qualifications and experience.First Aid and CPR

-Adventure Course Director Qualifications:
Loves to interact with children and
has prior experience working with children of various agesEnjoys
spending time outdoors and has prior experience working in an
outdoor setting2 years minimum of experience facilitating
teambuilding activities and low ropes course programs with a focus
on teamwork, trust, and cooperation (3-5 years preferred) 2 years
minimum experience belaying (3-5 years preferred) 1 year minimum
experience with rock climbing and high ropes course activities (2-5
years preferred) Current ropes course instructor certification
(preferred)Must attend, participate in and successfully demonstrate
required skills during pre-season mandatory ropes course
facilitator training in JuneHigh school graduate or equivalent21
years of age or older by June 18, 2023 (Preferred: with a valid
driver's license)Proof of health physical clearing the candidate
for work in a camp settingWillingness to live and work in an indoor
and outdoor camp setting, which includes working irregular hours
with limited or simple equipment, rustic facilities, wildlife and
insects; limited technology while at camp, and daily exposure to
sun, rain, and other weather conditions -Adventure Course Director
Responsibilities:
Provide fun, positive and active
leadership to campers and staffHelp build a supportive environment
where campers can grow, make new friends, and try new thingsRole
model problem-solving, collaboration, and initiative to campers and
other staffDevelop, supervise, and deliver facilitation of on-site
and off-site programs involving outdoor skills, backcountry
knowledge, and adventure-based activities with campers and staff
through the use of girl planning and Girl Scout program
guidelinesOversee campers and staff during group activities, meals,
and transitions to and from scheduled eventsAssist in developing
and implementing a safe and attainable progression of teambuilding
activities and adventure course elements for campers and
groupsResponsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and
carrying out low and high adventure course activitiesTeach and
monitor proper use of climbing tower, zip line, high ropes course
elements, and low ropes challenge course elements and all equipment
Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and
educational proceduresConduct daily check of adventure course areas
and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good conditionAssist in
maintaining records of equipment in the adventure course equipment
log daily, indicating any repairs, and retiring equipment
promptlyAssist with set up of ropes course prior to and during
staff training as neededAssist with initial and end-of-season
inventoryMaintain open and efficient communication with camp
director, health supervisor, and other staff as needed involving
camper's illness and injuryMaintain responsibility for the overall
well-being of campers throughout their camp experienceOther duties
