Pratt Industries - a sustainable packaging company - is looking for an energetic, results-driven leader to oversee a team of Safety Managers located across the Mill Division to ensure compliance and improvement of all company safety programs, initiatives, and training.       Base Location: Valparaiso, Indiana - nestled in Northwest Indiana just 20 minutes from the sandy shores of Indiana Dunes National Park at Lake Michigan, 1 hour 15 minutes from Downtown Chicago, and 1 hour from bustling South Bend
      Travel Details: While this position is based in Valpo, around 50% of time will be spent at the other 5 paper mills:

      • Conyers, Georgia
      • Staten Island, New York
      • Shreveport, Louisiana
      • Wapakoneta, Ohio
      • Henderson, Kentucky

        Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

        • Track, understand, and report Division Safety analytics
        • Identify trends of current conditions, make recommendations, seek opportunities for improvement, and drive for results to move the organization to a best-in-industry status
        • Develop, maintain, update, and lead Safety procedures, guidelines, communications, and training programs to ensure compliance
        • Conduct on-site work place inspections/audits for compliance; ensure immediate resolution of hazards and drive management team for sustained resolutions and results
        • Maintain membership in applicable safety or environmental associations to stay informed of new developments and trends
        • Prepare legal notices, postings, and reports as required by government and regulatory bodies such as E.E.O.C., E.P.A., O.S.H.A., F.D.A., etc.
        • Follow all company policies per Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and other official guidelines
        • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
        • Must be able to travel 50% to remote locations across Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Louisiana, and New York Additional duties as assigned by management

          Education and Experience:
          REQUIRED:

          • Four (4) year college degree in Safety or related field
          • Five (5) years Safety Management experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

            Candidates are preferred who offer the following:

            • Master's degree in Safety related field
            • Safety Management experience in the paper industry
            • Divisional or Multi-Site Safety Management Experience

              Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
              OSHA Certification
              Physical Demands:

              • Employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear
              • Employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, feel; and reach with hands and arms
              • The employee is occasionally required to sit
              • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
              • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

                Work Environment:
                While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
