Job Description:
What you will do
- Provide leadership, professional development, mentoring, and
technical guidance to the project engineers.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team ensuring
adherence to high levels of industry standards customer service and
on-time and cost performance.
- Support project related decisions and engaging others as needed
for issues that fall outside established policies. Referring to the
Director of Project Engineering on any ideas that would change the
nature of current operating procedures.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of operating results and
other special projects and has accountability for the performance
and results of the team.
- Manage ongoing operating performance for your team's projects
against the plans and budgets on a quarterly monthly and weekly
basis.
- Work with Director of Project Engineering to establish
standards for the Project Engineering department and inspire the
team to engage and adopt the Intelsat brand promise identity and
culture.
- Promote cross-functional coordination and collaboration within
Aircraft Technical Services team and external stakeholders.
- Manage and improve operational performance on key dimensions
such as project completion, engineering specifications,
certification performance, and employee satisfaction and
morale.
- Ensure that Intelsat meets all airline government and corporate
regulations and policies on an ongoing basis. Address potential
deviations immediately.
- Help recruit, hire, train, and develop employees to meet the
objectives for the Aircraft Engineering department. Balance the
quality and quantity of available resources to meet growth demands
and achieve overall business goals.Your required experience
- Experience working with senior management, design teams, and
various internal/external customers as well as experience in
various engineering/operations activities.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities across
departmental teams.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
Advanced degree preferred.
- 7-10+ years of industry experience.
- Strong knowledge in both structural/electrical engineering
disciplines.
- Solid experience in project management project planning and
budget management.
- Strong project management leadership background.Your success in
this role will look like:
- Able to manage a team of professionals and adapts team
objectives and priorities to address resource and operational
challenges.
- Proven people management skills with the ability to win instant
respect and rapport at all levels of the organization.
- An excellent communicator (verbal and written) internally and
externally able to represent a company to the highest standards and
report effectively to the Aircraft Technical Services senior
management team.It would be nice if you had:
- An in-depth understanding of engineering and certification
processes.
- Strong knowledge in developing engineering teams.
- Experience with FAA and international equivalents including
experience in developing Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)
Packages and working with the FAA regulators including ODA's.
- Knowledge of wireless and SATCOM airborne equipment and their
use onboard commercial aircraft.
- A track record of successful leadership experiences leading
highly skilled engineering teams.
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or an
equivalent professional certification.How we support you:
