- Oversee plant operations, management and continuous improvement
activities in an assembly/manufacturing environment.
- Direct and provide supervision of activities in the Finishing,
Assembly and Shipping Departments by monitoring and maintaining
each department's established goals, objectives, and guidelines to
maintain efficient, functional, and highly operational
departments.
- Support and promote company philosophies and policies.
- Monitor and ensure the hour-by-hour boards are maintained by
the department leads and assist when necessary.
- Work with Leads in each department to ensure training plans are
completed and effectively support the departments. Monitor training
records by ensuring completed training is entered into the
Company's Learning Management System (LITMOS).
- Initiate and implement new methods and procedures in areas such
as scrap control, manufacturing techniques and workforce
utilization to capitalize on and increase the efficiency of the
operations throughout the departments.
- Responsible for managing department employees. Works in concert
with Day Shift Department Managers and Supervisors as necessary
when issues arise with team members influencing other shifts, work
cells, and team members.
- Provides team building activities for department leads. Builds
cohesiveness amongst leads and holds them accountable for lead
responsibilities.
- Duties supporting Environmental Health and Safety:
- Ensures that environmental management in the Finishing
Department is followed.
- Actively participates in the Safety Committee following all
policies, procedures and work instructions that may include safety
rules, safety observation audits, regulatory compliance,
environmental awareness and audits, continuous improvement,
investigations and the 5Y process to develop root cause analysis
for problem resolution as required. Participates in safety
communications weekly/monthly events.
- Ensures compliance with all safety procedures and ensures safe
working procedures in assigned departments.
- Documents incidents in the appropriate report format. Follows
the appropriate chain of command when incidents arise.
- Transports injured employee as required to the appropriate
after-hours urgent care facility.
- Conducts daily shift meetings with each department.
Communicates necessary information to team members: team leads, day
shift supervisors/managers, and SVP of Operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. Degree in Organizational, Leadership and Supervision,
Industrial Management, Business Administration, or equivalent is
strongly preferred.COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIREDLeadership:
- (8) to (10) years of experience in supervisory positions at
progressively higher levels, preferably in a manufacturing
environment, or equivalent.
- Leadership experience including Continuous Improvement
activities, management and ownership of KPI's, coaching, mentoring,
counseling, and providing corrective instruction to team
members.
- Strong capabilities of addressing and following through on
employee related performance and behavioral issues.
- Proven experience with the ability to make decisions in a
timely manner.
- Experience driving business results in the areas of safety,
quality, productivity, service and cost.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with
timely follow up.
- Ability to work with and influence all levels of the
organization.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of practical lean manufacturing principles
with implementation experience.
- Excellent project management skills.
- High personal standards of success; leads by example.
- Microsoft Office skills such as Excel and Word and various
other business-related applications.Operations and Continuous
Improvement:
- Experience with implementing and leading a sustained continuous
improvement culture in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to drive daily, weekly, and monthly meetings and
actions to address operational issues.
- Ability to engage and lead all plant team members in the CI
process in meeting cost saving goals.
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor plans around relevant
performance metrics.Environmental, Health, and Safety:
- Experience and knowledge of OSHA guidelines
- Knowledge and experience with timely incident and accident
mitigation/investigation and root cause analysis.Employee
Relations, Individual and Team Development:
- Ability to promote an environment conducive to teams and
accountability.
- Understands the need to foster a firm, fair and positive
environment that drives employee engagement.
- Experience with performance management, succession planning and
talent management processes with the ability to identify and
provide critical areas for training and development.
