Community HealthNet Health Centers, located in Gary, Indiana is seeking an entry-level human resources assistant to support a fast-paced human resources department. Typical Monday through Friday Schedule; Part-Time from 9:30am - 4pm daily. JOB SUMMARY The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for supporting the Director of Human Resources in the overall administration and coordination of the human resource functions of Community Healthnet, Inc. This position requires the ability to plan and organize a variety of administrative and professional duties; such as assisting to develop employment policies as directed, creating compensation documents, assisting in recruitment, supporting new employee orientation, and other HR-related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Communicate with line managers regarding recruitment and staffing of key areas.2. Assist with updating job descriptions for each position at Community HealthNet, as needed.3. Manage a number of administrative duties; including researching information to use when creating Microsoft PowerPoint presentations or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for HR related matters.4. Develop new employee on-boarding orientation materials.5. Use the internet and other media to research viable candidates.6. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills7. Able to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and to take initiative on variety of tasks and projects8. Proficiency with office applications and software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)9. Experience handling confidential business matters and information with discretion10. Approachable and appropriate behavior when interacting with personnel at all levels in a quickly changing environment11. Onboarding experience desired such as; writing offer letters for review by Director.12. Write and/or update job descriptions for each position at Community HealthNet, as needed.13. Assist with new employee orientation process to ensure that each employee receives required HIPAA, OSHA training, Harassment, Bullying, and Diversity training, and that new employees understand the FQHC Mission, Community HealthNet employment policies, employee awards and bonuses, and benefit programs.14. Assist with the open enrollment and all periodic employee enrollment processes into CHN benefits.15. Assist with the maintenance of employee records, as required by state and federal law, local governing bodies, and/or other departments within the organization.16. Assist in preparing Department of Workforce Development paperwork to defend unemployment claims.17. Assist in scheduling annual mandatory training of staff, i.e. HIPAA, OSHA training, as well as any other elective employee training programs as directed by the CEO.18. All other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director. QUALIFICATIONS High School or high school equivalency is required; some college is preferred. Minimum of one year of demonstrated experience as a Human Resources Assistant, including at least one year or more work-related experience in the healthcare industry. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with staff requests. Demonstrates the ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, such as; people of diverse age, ethnicity, racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. The ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with clinical staff, nursing, front desk, other support staff, and management. Ability to respond to opportunities and issues using a high level of customer service skills. Ability to effectively work as a team member Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of maintaining confidentiality Knowledge of working with human resource information system software, and Microsoft Office SuitePHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work usually performed in a clinic administration office setting Frequent speaking and hearing Frequent viewing a computer monitor for extended periods of time Frequent sitting, standing, walking Frequent repetitive motion utilizing hands and fingers Occasionally required to use hand and finger motions to, handle, grip or feel The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Frequent driving to clinic sites to perform HR duties, for meetings, etc. Valid Driver's License Proof of valid auto insurance Occasional travel to the company's local health clinic sites Occasional exposure to airborne and bloodborne pathogensJob Type: Part-timePay: From $15.50 per hourSchedule: Monday to FridayAbility to commute/relocate: Gary, IN 46402: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Experience: Customer Service: 1 year (Required)Work Location: One location
