Job Description Salary: $15.00 Assembler/Tester/Shipping Packer
Join us in making the world healthier, safer and more productive by
saving lives and protecting property at AMKUS Rescue Systems. We
develop and manufacture a wide range of hydraulic and battery
powered rescue tools and accessories. AMKUS offers innovative and
reliable solutions for the fire rescue industry. We are seeking a
full-time Assembler/Tester/Shipping Packer in our Valparaiso, IN,
headquarter to work Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM in assembly of rescue
system equipment. This position requires experience working in a
career path that involves utilizing mechanical / electrical
concepts. The pay range of $15-$20 an hour will commensurate with
experience. You will be assembling / building hydraulic tools that
have both mechanical and electrical components. Mechanical aptitude
assessment will be given. Electrical , welding, inventory control,
and shipping experience are all highly desirable. Manufacturing
experience preferred. Must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment. Must have the ability to physically stand for long
periods of time, lift/carry/push objects weighing 50 pounds,
crouch/kneel, bend, reach, and be able to handle/grasp and finger
objects. Requires use of hand tools. A mechanical aptitude test is
required. May occasionally be required to work mandatory overtime
based on the needs of the business. NO PHONE CALLS. ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS: - Responsible for assembling and testing products,
ensuring that completed products are invoiced, packed and shipped
correctly. - Sets up/prepares jobs for assembly and shipping. -
Visually inspects parts prior to assembly to ensure compliance with
quality standards. - Uses assembly tooling designed for the
assigned cells, i.e.,presses, drill machines, testing fixtures,
assembly fixtures etc. - Assembles subassemblies and finished goods
and uses Loctite, grease, epoxy etc. as specified per assigned work
instructions. - Assembles products to special handling instructions
as required. - Thoroughly cleans and prepares product surface for
labeling using acetone. Makes sure proper labeling is applied per
bill of materials. - Performs final testing on products to ensure
compliance with company and NFPA standards, and maintains detailed
records on computer, such as number and nature of test failures of
various models. - Reworks failed products as necessary. - Assembles
polypacks to finished goods prior to sending to shipping. -
Prepares products for shipping, including placing in boxes, using
foam machine and sealing/labeling boxes and proper labeling. -
Maintains current knowledge of products/parts revisions and works
closely with Assembly Supervisor and Engineering Department to
identify and resolve product performance and procedure problems. -
Maintains clean and safe assembly, testing and shipping areas. -
Trains, assists and helps oversee work of new employees as needed.
- Periodically builds product models for new/redesigned products.
SKILLS: - Training, education and/or experience in mechanics,
machine shop, hydraulics or related area preferred. - Working
knowledge of and ability to make practical application of OSHA and
company safety precautions and procedures. - Ability to operate a
computer and applicable software. - Ability to physically and
safely assemble parts and products and operate hand tools,
including screw drivers, drill, Allen wrenches, hammer, and air
nozzle. - Ability to count and make simple arithmetic additions and
subtractions and use practical shop mathematics. - Ability to work
alone and with others in a team environment with minimum
supervision, work rapidly for long periods and work on several
tasks at the same time, often under time pressure. - Ability to
understand and carry out written and oral instructions, observe and
read instruments, gauges and dials, and use technical manuals. -
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with other
company personnel, including being sensitive to professional
ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. - Ability to
