JOB SUMMARY: The Sanitor is responsible for keeping the work areas in production departments of an industrial establishment in clean and orderly condition by performing following duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for complying with customer service and quality standards. * Transport raw materials and semi-finished products or supplies between departments or buildings to supply machine tenders or operators with materials for processing. * Arrange boxes, material and hand trucks or other industrial equipment in neat and orderly manner. * Clean lint, dust, oil and grease from machines, overhead pipes, and conveyors. Clean screen filters. Scrub processing tanks and vats. * Clean floors and apply floor drier. * Pick up reusable scrap for salvage and store in containers. * Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways and locker rooms and other work areas. * Clean rugs, carpets, furniture and draperies. * Dust furniture and equipment. Polishes metalwork. * Wash walls, ceilings and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels and sills. * Empty wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays. * Transport trash and waste to disposal area. * Replenish bathroom supplies. Replaces light bulbs. * Pick up refuse from pant grounds and maintains area by cutting grass or shoveling snow. * May operate industrial truck to transport materials within plant. * Start pumps to force cleaning solution through production machinery, piping or vats. * Start pumps to lubricate machines. * Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work. * Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the group, the company and the community. * May perform other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: * Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift. * Ability to use hands and fingers. * Ability to see, hear and talk. * Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. * Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required. * Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas. * Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions/problems. * Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week. * Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. * Stand eight hours per shift. * Repetitive reaching over head, under and across throughout shift. * Push/pull items up to 1000 lbs. with assistance. * May crawl under equipment to reach work area. * May climb stairs and ladders to platform 7-10 feet high. * Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc. * May climb steps to and from work and break areas. * Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks. * Ability to work in fast paced environment in close proximity to others. * Ability to distinguish colors. * Possess basic math skills to perform simple counting, adding and subtracting. * Ability to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions. * Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting throughout shift. * Ability to work in wet, humid areas. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form. * Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary. * May work near moving mechanical parts and ay be exposed to electrical shock, fumes, airborne particles and vibration. * May be required to work in high precarious places and/or in outside weather conditions. * Receptive to new ideas, concepts and procedures. * Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: * Maintain harmonious working relations with employees from all departments. * Maintain harmonious working relations with management form all levels. * Communicate effectively with all employees and management. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: * Less than high school education; or up to one month related work experience or training; or a combination of education and experience. * Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
