We are the top performing charter school in Gary, Indiana. We are one of the few Indiana schools offering an early college program, which allows our qualifying high school students to take real college courses for real college credit, free of charge to our students and their families. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge in K-8, Project Lead the Way beginning in middle school, and a blended learning model in middle school through high school. Our teachers cultivate in our students the critical thinking skills they will need to understand how the world around them works and to become leaders and agents of positive change in the world.REPORTS TO/TERM:GEO Foundation CEO and Chief Academic OfficerThis is a full-time, year-round administrative positionOur school is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Middle School Principal to lead our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a proven track record of success in a leadership role.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in concert with GEO CEO, Chief Academic Officer, 21st Century Leadership as a singular, cohesive unit in respect of its K-12 structure.
  • Work with leadership team to hire, develop, train and evaluate all staff
  • Support Dean of Students and teachers with discipline issues
  • Help develop and maintain the school's vision and goals for student achievement
  • Articulate and foster the school's desired culture
  • Provide oversight and support to the staff and Principal
  • Inform GEO CEO and Chief Academic Officer of any problems, concerns or suggestions that have an impact on the operation of the school
  • Meet deadlines
  • Participate in personal and professional growth activities
  • Use all available research to evaluate instructional issues
  • Work cooperatively with GEO team members
  • Act as liaison for GEO/schoolWork in concert with GEO Foundation leadership team to monitor and maintain compliance for all grants and charter including DOE requirements
  • Coordinate data driven instruction with Chief Academic Officer and Master/Mentor Teachers
  • Create board reports focused on department activities, accomplishments and concerns
  • Attend and participate in all GEO/School macro management meetings
  • Support a welcoming and inclusive environment for parents, community, and other volunteers
  • Support a strong culture of discipline and respect within the school community among students and staff
  • Promote and cultivate a positive learning culture and climate in the buildings
  • Follow all board and GEO Foundation policies and regulations
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the middle school
  • Develop and implement educational programs that align with state and national standards
  • Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes academic excellence and student success
  • Manage and evaluate teaching staff to ensure high-quality instruction
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members to support student achievement
  • Maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff
  • Manage the school budget and allocate resources effectively
